I believe the most important thing I can do right now is to create joy and beauty, to raise the spiritual volume in my life and my world. That's why I love my job. When I make something I think is beautiful and romantic, it is a small gift I give to others and myself-it can be as simple as putting on lipstick and kissing, or making dinner for a friend, or just walking down the street with a smile on my lips. I believe in love and magic, that the person who is beautiful, happy and alive spreads happiness and joy wherever she goes. Sending out this energy is my most important mission.

Alicia Lawhon was born in Nayarit, Mexico, where she lived with her grandmother, a seamstress who sewed garments from recycled fabrics and hand-crocheted silks.  She began sewing her own clothes in Hollywood in the 80’s, and during high school kept an outfit diary to make sure she was never seen in the same thing twice.  The first garment she made was a pair of bondage pants.

In 1990, Alicia began working at Ron Herman/Fred Segal Melrose, first as a salesperson and later as a manager and assistant buyer.  She became a full time designer in 1996.

Celebrity clients include Beck, Britney Spears, Lenny Kravitz, Linda Evangelista, Anthony Kiedis, Aerosmith, Liv Tyler, & Michael Stipe.
